January 2nd 2008 from Eddie Holden. Little Downham.
A friend of mine was broken into over the Christmas period, at Witch ford, she was away at the time at her daughters house , local area, and when they took her back , they could see the house was, ransacked all draws and cupboards turned out and complete mess, money and jewellery was stolen. The police were called on 999, and they were there in prompt time, and finger prints were tried to be taken but they wore gloves , maybe they wont be able to catch them , as no evidence left at seen, may be it was a blessing she was not there, she perhaps could have been beaten up. The lady is taking it quite well but the daughter is very up set, as all the jewellery was going to her as it's come down through the family, I do not know if the police team came from Ely, to the crime, but I think in your NHW, a mention of prompt action from the police and their professional way in handling the crime. I think a little praise now and then helps the moral of the police as they do get some stick now and then, it would be nice to think it was OUR INSPECTOR at ELY that got it sorted.

From Eddie Holden following a report in the newspapers about a small child killed by a Rottweiler dog.
Through your neighbour hood watch website, may I give an opinion on this latest tragedy , where a lovely little toddler was mauled to death, by some one so stupid enough to keep these dogs in a family of young children.
I am not saying no one should keep them, but maybe restrictions to people with young children, these dogs were really breed to fight, but dog fighting is illegal, these can make good pets, in controlled environment , with adults, these dogs are of a jealous nature. I have been to friends houses where they have these dogs, and they are as soft and lick you to death, but to make a move to the owners and they are there to protect, no don't put total ban on these dogs but make it that owners must not have young children , in the family or they must be muzzled at all times, they have to be muzzled on a lead anyway, we just can't go on banning everything that we don't like but we can restrict the uses that's a big difference.
We had an Alsatian, or German Shepperd, now my children used to sleep in the basket with her, and she really protected them, so at one time they tried to ban them, it depends how you bring up a dog, animals, dogs or cats can sense danger long before humans can, or peoples attitudes to them , there's a built in computer in their brain that we haven't, and also birds, it's funny but my bird table is always full of birds, but some times not one or a chirp anywhere, and you can bet your last penny, there's a Hawk around somewhere, and we don't ever spot danger we just keep plodding on and then when it hit you , the first thing you say, I never noticed that coming, we have a lot to learn of animal and birds.
